Children, Economic Understanding, and Consumer Behavior

Given SRCD’s commitment to “coordinate and integrate” among disciplines, this topic offers a unique opportunity to do just that. As folks in marketing orient more toward child consumers, there’s a pressing need to bring researchers from relevant fields together to discuss how children navigate their economic world through a developmental lens. Relatedly, understanding how children develop their economic understanding and develop as consumers offers the opportunity to identify optimal times to intervene on behavior to promote better financial health outcomes later in life. In short, a workshop on this topic would interest both researchers and practitioners, and bring together folks from a range of disciplines and even industries.
